This antique French guardian angel is one we don't see often due to it's small size.  This angel was embellished with inlayed diamonds set into the medal with .85 carats of diamonds and 2.64g of 14k gold to secure this beautiful piece for generations.  On the front it says "o san ángel guardián sed mi guía" which translates to "Oh Saint guardian angel be my guide"  

Belief in guardian angels can be traced throughout all antiquity.
